ADAS Calibration
Family-Owned & Operated Since 2008
What Is ADAS Calibration — and When Do You Need It?
ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems — the lane departure warnings, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and similar features built into most newer vehicles. Many of those systems are run by a camera mounted to the inside of your windshield, aimed precisely at the road ahead. When that windshield comes out and a new one goes in, the camera's aim shifts — and even a fraction of a degree off means the system misjudges distances and lane position. Calibration re-aims the camera and sensors back to factory precision.
You typically need ADAS calibration:
- After a windshield replacement — the most common trigger, since the camera is mounted to the glass
- After the forward camera or a related sensor is replaced
- After a wheel alignment, suspension change, or ride-height adjustment
- After front-end collision or bumper work that affects the radar sensors
- Any time an ADAS warning light is on, or the manufacturer requires it after glass work
If we replace your windshield and your vehicle is equipped with ADAS, calibration isn't an upsell — it's a required step to make the car safe to drive again.

Since 2008
Why Portland Metro Drivers Choose Collision for ADAS Calibration
- Family-owned since 2008 — locally operated, not a franchise call center
- Calibrated in-house — no separate trip to the dealer, no added wait
- Autel MaxiSYS equipment — calibrated to your manufacturer's exact specifications
- Done with your windshield work — one shop, one appointment, glass and calibration together
- Honest about what your vehicle needs — we'll tell you whether yours requires static, dynamic, or both
- Backed by our work — verified complete before your vehicle leaves

Why In-House Calibration Matters
A lot of glass shops don't calibrate — they replace your windshield and then send you to the dealer to have the camera recalibrated, which means a second appointment, a second wait, and often a bigger bill. Worse, some skip it entirely and hand back a vehicle whose safety systems are quietly out of alignment.
At Collision Auto Glass & Calibration, calibration is part of what we do, not something we farm out. We've been serving Portland metro drivers since 2008, and we calibrate in-house with the Autel MaxiSYS, following each manufacturer's published procedure for your exact year, make, and model. Your windshield and your calibration happen in one place, in one visit, and we verify the systems are reading correctly before you drive off. That's why we're "Clearly the Best Choice" for auto glass and calibration in Portland.
Our Calibration Process
Calibration is precise, procedure-driven work. Here's how we do it:
- Identify the systems — We scan the vehicle and confirm exactly which ADAS features and sensors your year, make, and model uses.
- Set up to spec — For static calibration, we position the manufacturer's targets at precisely measured distances on a level surface under controlled conditions.
- Static calibration — We calibrate the forward camera and sensors against the targets using the Autel MaxiSYS.
- Dynamic calibration — When your vehicle requires it, we complete a road test at the specified speed and conditions so the system finishes calibrating in real-world driving.
- Verify & document — We confirm the systems pass, clear any related codes, and make sure no ADAS warnings remain before we hand back your keys.
Some vehicles need static calibration, some need dynamic, and many need both — we'll tell you which yours requires up front.

The Safety Systems We Calibrate
Your ADAS camera and sensors run more of your vehicle than most drivers realize. After a windshield replacement, these are the systems that depend on a correct calibration:
- Lane Departure Warning & Lane Keep Assist — keeps you centered in your lane
- Automatic Emergency Braking & Forward Collision Warning — judges closing distance to brake in time
- Adaptive Cruise Control — maintains a safe following distance automatically
- Traffic Sign Recognition & Auto High Beams — reads signs and oncoming headlights
If the camera is even slightly off, these systems can brake late, drift, or throw false warnings. A correct calibration is what makes them trustworthy again.

Calibrated to Manufacturer Specifications
There's no shortcut to a correct calibration. Every manufacturer publishes a specific procedure for each vehicle — the exact targets, the precise distances, the lighting and surface conditions, and whether the job calls for static calibration, a dynamic road test, or both. Get any of it wrong and the system reads as "complete" while still being out of alignment.
We follow the manufacturer's published procedure for your exact year, make, and model — no generic shortcuts — and we verify the result before your vehicle leaves. It's the difference between a calibration that passes a scan and one you can actually trust at 65 miles per hour.
